In my own opinion as one representative from one of thousands of black communities. To engage potential voters, as well as, our youth in the democratic process we need to stress the importance from the elementary school level throughout the remainder of their lives. Our state and local legislators need to be more visible at PTA meetings, school board meetings, and town hall meetings. We should consistently model and reinforce to our youth throughout the school year, with "mock" (real) elections that actually make a difference within the schools that they attend. So they can be interactive within the democratic process and visibly see what the majority rule is able to accomplish and how it works. We continue to fail to utilize our most vital resource. CHILDREN!!
They are the future, and they can also get their parents to do most anything when it comes to school participation and activities.
